Farewell, Troy!

Our Youth Ministry leader, Troy Mendez, is saying goodbye after many amazing years with our middle/high school students at Atonement. Read Troy's letter to the congregation to learn more:

With much prayer and consideration, I have decided to step away from my role as Atonement’s youth leader. I have enjoyed my time in the role and have really loved getting to know each student on a personal level. They have taught me so much throughout the years from the moment I joined Confirmation classes as a student, getting confirmed myself, going on many incredible Fort and mission trips and spending Sunday mornings in our classrooms. They will each hold a special place in my heart as they have allowed me to grow in my own personal faith.

On the last day of class this year, I thanked each student for allowing me to be part of their faith journey. I told them if there is one thing that hoped stuck with each of them is that no matter what, they need to have a constant relationship and dialogue with Jesus. I thank each one of the parents who have entrusted me to be part of their child’s faith journey.

Of course, I can’t let all of this free time go to waste, so I have accepted a role as Head Coach of the Muskego High School’s Girls Wrestling team. For those of you who know me, coaching is a passion of mine, working with young adults, this new role will take up a lot more of my time, which was a big reason for ending my role as youth leader.

Prayers and thank you,

Troy Mendez
