Tell me more about Fort Wilderness(Cross Trainers)
We have been going to FW for SEVERAL years. It is a Christian camp in Rhinelander. The Winter Retreat offers sledding (down a HUGE hill), ice-skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, broom ball (think hockey with just your boots on and instead of hockey sticks they are brooms!), the chair of death (which is actually a lot of fun, they made me go in it a few years ago), AWESOME food, lots and lots of fun!!
We will do a devotion in the mornings and at night and the rest of the time campers are allowed to explore the grounds. (There’s also a coffee shop and canteen to purchase treats.) The rest of the “fun” things are included when you sign up.

A message from Mike Ganrud:
The Cross Training and ACTS groups got together the Saturday before Thanksgiving to bake pies and a special type of cookie under the watchful eyes and tutelage of Madame Holden (they were also very fortunate to use equipment provided by Madame and Val Hense, and were very thankful for a Thrivent Action Team grant to help offset the costs). We appreciated the congregation's support of the effort, as all had fun working together for a couple of great causes- youth trips, and Church In Society's Coat Drive. The youth chose to donate $155 of the amount raised to the Coat Drive, with the remaining funds being dedicated to helping support youth trips such as Fort Wilderness and our summer service trip. Speaking of that summer service trip.... if we said Colorado, would you want more info? Stay tuned.... :-)

Fellowship Hall - Lunch Provided
Facilitated by Carolyn Karl, a parent and former attorney who for over 20 years has also worked with youth and families…with a recent focus on intergenerational connections. Carolyn serves as Director of Programing of the Wellness Compass and facilitates Teen, Adult, and Parent Spiritual & Wellness Circles.
Do you struggle keeping your New Year’s resolution beyond 2 weeks, 1 month or beyond February? You know you want to be a better parent, partner, friend… but life’s business, daily responsibilities, stresses and emotional ups and downs make you feel over-whelmed, isolated and even alone.
Come to this event to learn how to sustain your “be a better person” New Year’s resolution for a life time…while developing toward wholeness. Carolyn will explore ways for us to share our frustrations, joys and concerns with other parents who understand; and to challenge us to be more intentional parents & care providers who will ultimately be more resilient, stronger, happier, healthier and more confident about life’s next steps.
NOTE: This event is open to all parents, grandparents, care-givers of children and all who are interested.

Getting Ready for Fort!
On December 22, Deacon Doug walked ACTS and CrossTraining through some curriculum he developed to bring the Good Samaritan story to life and provide us with some things to think about during our sessions at Fort Wilderness as well as when we reconvene in our classes next year. As you might have heard, we currently have xx students and xx leaders signed up for our winter retreat at Fort Wilderness January 9-12. Thanks, Deacon Doug, and thanks to the congregation for your support in making this retreat possible.
And, a quick reminder: on January 5, ACTS and CrossTraining will once again be making the pancake breakfast for Kids Blast- plan to arrive around (8:30am??) to help set up, make pancakes, serve, and cleanup. Thanks in advance!
Registration now open for 2024-25 Cross+Training and ACTS Classes!
Kick-Off-First day of classes will be September 8th!
