Obituary
Dennis Allen Taylor, formerly of Brown Deer, passed away on April 10, 2023, at the age of 86.
Dennis is survived by his wife Mary McCarthy Taylor (nee Osmundson) and his children – Laurie Morstatter (TJ), Mark Taylor (Jen), and Tim Taylor (Becki), his son-in-law Brian Schemenauer, and his stepchildren - David McCarthy (Heather) and Christine Oman (Chad). Dennis was a proud grandfather and great grandfather to Josh, Andy, Jake, Micalah, Noah, Levi, Seth, Andrew, Joshua, Patrick, Ethan, Maya, Aiden, Olivia, Jaeda, Elijah, Ethan, Evan, Emma, Conor, Liam, Carter, Evelyn, and Estelle. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Clara Taylor, his first wife Jean Taylor (nee Garbe), daughter Amy Schemenauer, granddaughter Amanda Schemnauer, and his siblings Terry and Dottie.
Dennis was born on December 8, 1936 in Chicago, but lived the majority of his life in the Milwaukee area. After graduating from Custer High School in 1954, he went on to study Pharmacology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned his degree in 1958 and worked as a pharmacist for 12 years. He changed careers and became a hearing aid specialist. This is where he found his true vocational calling and, for 30 years, he cared for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Traveling was a great joy in his life – visiting countless countries throughout the world and all 50 states with his first wife, Jean. During his domestic excursions, he took great delight in visiting many zoos throughout the United States. After Jean's passing, he found an adventure companion in Mary and they continued to travel until he could no longer do so. He talked fondly of his many travel experiences and would often share with anyone who would listen.
Like a true Wisconsinite, Dennis was not shy about declaring both his love and disdain for our Badgers, Brewers, Bucks, and Packers. He was also the consummate sports fan – there was always some type of sporting event on the television.
Dennis was active in his church for many, many years and took great comfort in the Lord's teachings, often seeking solace during difficult times in His Word.
A memorial celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 15250 W. National Avenue New Berlin, WI 53151. Visitation from 10:00am – 11:45am. Memorial Service to follow at 12:00 Noon. Private interment.
In honor of his love for all things Wisconsin Badgers, please wear something red.
