January 24 Conversation
On Tuesday, January 24, we welcomed The Rev. Bill Beyer to Atonement for an evening of conversation around the topic of Reconciling In Christ (RIC). Pr. Bill did a wonderful job sharing his story as a gay pastor in the ELCA and his decades-long journey of self-acceptance. It was wonderful to see so many Atonement members there, and for so many good questions to be asked – all in thoughtful and respectful ways. It will be important for us to continue to be respectful and thoughtful as we proceed with more conversations of this type. As we move forward, your RIC Core Team wants to hear from you and learn the kinds of questions and concerns you have.
Many of those have been answered by Pr. Bill, but I suspect others who could not attend have similar questions. Please feel free to contact any of the RIC Core Team members with your thoughts and questions, and we will be using a variety of means to share information with individuals and the whole congregation. And look for more events hosted by the RIC Core Team in the coming months!
