Tepeagua needs our help!
The 10 and 20 meter deep wells supported by Atonement in 2008 and 2014 are proving unsubstantial for the community. Fortunately, during the fall of 2020, a successful 125 meter-deep well was dug, yielding large volumes of healthy water; Atonement provided $25,000 for this $58,000 drilling project.
Now that the town has access to clean water, it is time to work on a distribution system that will bring water to every home.
To protect the environment, the plan will also provide each home with a pit latrine and grey water treatment system. Our good partners, Rotary Clubs/Foundation and ACUA (a spanish organization), are sponsoring the majority of the costs of the new system, and Atonement is pitching in to help!
For this project to be successful, water must be piped to each home and business in Tepeagua. ACUA has taken on half of the project; in consultation with our Rotary partners, the remainder of the project has been broken into two parts.
The first part of this project will cost approximately $120,000. Atonement has pledged $25,000 towards this goal.
Example of Anticipated Expenses:
Water Collection Tank: $14,000
Pipeline to each home: $540
Water meter for each home: $150
